hello moon.

Skating is, I think, a lot like flying. When flying you have to look ahead, where it is that you want to go and not down, where it is that you do not want to go. You look ahead and you concentrate on being less dense than the air around you. Flying is best done in a skirt, though you may think that this would allow lechers, creeps, and enthusiasts to stare up up under your skirt, trying to glimpse what you keep inside. Still, I maintain that flying is best done in a skirt, as it allows maximum air circulation around body. Besides, few people can actually see you once you get airborne. Too little imagination to take note. So you think about density and altering yours, you encourage the air to cling to you, support you and then you look to where you want to go and with practice the ground can't hold on to you.

Skating is a bit like this.

At first you have to work to keep concentrating on where you want to go, but before long you are already flying forward, you forget to worry about wheels strapped to your feet, you just concentrate on ground pushing you forward, equilibrium encompasses you and the earth sends you forward. Skating is best done inside a second skin.

This sunday, skating. Sunshine and shadows. The accidental blindness of movement. Sliding down underneath the earth and kiss it. Leave a piece behind, mark the spot and return for buried treasure later.
