if sol lewitt were a composer who composed movies:

write a score/soundtrack that tells a story, has plot and sequence and exposition - climax - denoument.

give this to someone else. do not discuss it with them. The score is their instructions for making a movie.

so that the score is the stylistic template, and the movie tells the story of the score.

it would be really cool to give the score to a number of different people simultaneously and see what you get out from each one.

this would be a film class assignment, or a film festival entry.

there are only certain people i would trust to do this so that it did not suck or become sappy or trite, or abstract. i don't want abstraction from this, i want to take an abstract base and find its concrete core.

radiohead. isaac. moby.

i have no ideas who would make the films. i would like to make one.

films have introductions that books can't write. or you can make beginnings in film that aren't writeable, but you can also make the written beginnings. film starts with a bang. for example, i don't think you can do the Montage/Pan/Timelapse photography through a city with sunlight and agitated music in writing. this is a good sort of beginning.

beginnings are important places.
